Nowadays there are many, many people raising a billion questions about Islam, most of which are, unfortunately, unanswered as there aren't as many Muslims on the internet as Christians and others.
through this blog at queries-about-Islam.blogger.com, I wish to answer as many questions as I can, so as to remove confusions from minds.

Islam and FGM
So I love to visit Y!A (answers.yahoo.com) and I have noticed that most of the people who talk against Islam never leave FGM, it is quite a high topic, so I wish to clear it first of all.
WHAT IS FGM?
FGM, or female genital mutilation, is the removal of the external female genitalia. It has been noted as a human rights violation by UNO in 2012, and there are many efforts to stop it. It is often taken as a dangerous practice.
Views in Islam:
In the Holy Quran, there has been no mention of cutting of any part of the female gentalia.
However, it has been mentioned in several Ahadees.
The process of cutting of part of the female genitalia in Islam is generally thought to be FGM. However, there is a difference between female circumcision and female genital mutilation. The latter (mutilation) is extreme (cutting off all or most of the part) and this is forbidden according to Islam, whereas the former (circumcision) is like a tiny snip off the top - which is permitted.
Even whatever is permitted is , like male circumcision, not an obligation of any sort. It has been regarded as noble, and recommended, but there is no penalty of any sort to those who do not want it.
